ABOUT THE FACILITY
Mount Carmel Health System – serving more than a half a million patients a year – is the second-largest health system in Central Ohio, with four acute care hospitals, outpatient facilities, physicians’ offices, surgery centers, emergency and urgent care centers, as well as community outreach sites throughout central Ohio.
Our Values Are Your Values. At Mount Carmel, we believe it's not enough that we care. We want to make certain that we show that caring in everything we do, to everyone we meet, every day. That's why, at Mount Carmel, we have some guidelines that we live by. We call them our CORE Values - Respect, Compassion, Excellence, Care of the Poor and Underserved, and Social Justice.
Mount Carmel East serves the growing Columbus east side communities and holds the distinctions of the busiest emergency department in greater Columbus and the most admissions within the Mount Carmel Health System.
Mount Carmel East most recently had a 200,000 square feet expansion to include a state-of-the-art heart center, including an 18-bed coronary care unit and a 30-bed step-down unit, as well as a new maternity center, which includes 12 labor and delivery rooms, two Cesarean operating rooms, seven antepartum rooms, 40 obstetric beds and a 15-bed Level III special care nursery.
Mount Carmel East also features 18 operating rooms, 2 open-heart operating rooms, endoscopy lab, multiple intensive care units (MICU, SICU and CCU), neuroscience unit with epilepsy monitoring beds and a dedicated observation unit. And special features like the Bruce E. Siegel Center for Health Education bring even more resources to the appealing East campus.
Mount Carmel West is the original hospital in the health system – the continual updates and enhancements have made it a truly outstanding facility. It is a Level II Trauma Center with 14 operating rooms, a urology suite, endoscopy lab and multiple intensive care units (Surgical ICU, Medical-Cardiac ICU, Open Heart Recovery Unit and Neuro ICU) and a Level III special care nursery. Physicians, residents, nurses, staff and students have access to a vast library of multimedia resources through the state-of-the-art Center for Learning and Education.
Mount Carmel St. Ann’s is located in Columbus’ northeast suburb of Westerville. Expansion has been a priority, where new facilities and renovations are underway. We are investing $110 million in new facilities and equipment to expand services in this rapidly growing community. Beyond improving surgical capabilities, inpatient capacity and infrastructure, this booming expansion will open the door to open heart surgery at Mount Carmel St. Ann’s, attract even more specialists to campus, enhance each patient’s experience and give the hospital needed room to grow.
Our Westerville hospital campus also boasts a dedicated Women's Health Center, a maternity pavilion designed exclusively for maternity care and includes a Level III special care nursery, a Cancer Center offering outpatient infusion and radiation therapy services, a regional orthopedic center of excellence, a regional comprehensive cardiovascular center and a growing list of surgical specialties.
