About Premier Medical Associates
With a team of approximately 100 dedicated providers, Premier Medical Associates is the largest multi-specialty physician practice in the Greater Pittsburgh area. The company is focused on being a leader in the delivery of efficient, high-quality care which drives down healthcare costs and improves patient outcomes. Founded in 1993, Premier’s leadership team led a transition that made the company independent in 2004. Premier’s independence allowed the company to focus on building a stronger model of patient-centered care and expand operations to include critical services and specialties that provide a continuum of care to PMA’s patients. In December 2011, Premier Medical Associates affiliated with Highmark and today are an affiliate of the Allegheny Health Network.
Today, Premier touches the lives of more than 100,000 patients in 10 convenient locations in the eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh, with specialties that include Allergy & Immunology, Behavioral Health, Cardiology & Electrophysiology, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Family Medicine, Gastroenterology, General & Breast Surgery, Hospitalists, Infectious Disease, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Ophthalmology, Pain Management, Pediatrics, Podiatry / Foot & Ankle Surgery, Pulmonology, Radiology and Rheumatology.

Tools, Technology and Standards
Delivering quality care takes extensive resources from behind the scenes, that often are not easily recognized by patients.
Let’s start with technology. We implemented a highly sophisticated electronic health records system across all specialties. This tool supports physicians and clinical staff in documenting and tracking all critical details of health vitals and treatment of each patient. It allows for superior care management and follow-up that was simply not possible with static paper charts. Additionally, we capture health information in a way that allows for meaningful use. In the future, this data will advance and improve care and treatment for many diseases and chronic conditions.
The EHR technology has also supported our providers in implementing a national program, Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) that brings a formal, consistent process to managing care of patients. The program’s distinguishing element is the designation of a primary care doctor for each patient to serve as a leader and advocate across the health community ensuring the quality and appropriateness of that patient’s care.
Premier Medical Associates attained the PCMH Level 3 Accreditation in 2013 for all primary care offices. This is an outstanding accomplishment few providers are capable of achieving. We are so pleased to bring this standard of care to our patients.
Standards of care extend beyond what technology and programs dictate. Among our providers, there is a system of checks and balances. Quality teams devote time to review the work of fellow physicians. We do this to ensure all providers are meeting our standards for quality care.
Lastly, the most important resource at Premier is our people and our culture. We heavily invest in our team. We provide hours of training to ensure everyone feels comfortable with their responsibilities, understands how to use the technology and wants to provide the service level of care our patients expect from us.
