UW Neighborhood Clinics

UW Neighborhood Clinics Logo

Thank you for considering a career at UW Neighborhood Clinics! We are a network of community-based primary care clinics located throughout the Puget Sound region affiliated with UW Medicine. The clinics provide a wide spectrum of primary care and secondary care services, from pediatrics to geriatrics, using the patient-centered medical home model. All locations include on-site laboratories and digital radiology facilities for point of care testing. The clinics offer primary care services six days a week, with urgent care services available at convenient locations seven days a week. We want to highlight a few areas of strength that make our network an enriching and satisfying place to practice medicine.

Patients
UW Neighborhood Clinic providers consistently rank their relationships with their patients as their top satisfier in practice. Our patients reflect the communities that we serve—we accept all forms of insurance including Medicaid and Medicare, which provides us with a broad and diverse patient population.

Colleagues
Providers who are attracted to the UW Neighborhood Clinics value lifelong learning, clinical excellence, evidence-based medicine, patient service and supporting the mission of UW Medicine. Colleagues support each other personally and professionally.

Team Based Care
A robust team of professionals works with our providers to manage our patients’ needs. Nurses, health navigators, social workers, consulting psychiatrists and pharmacists are available to support patient care. Centralized nurses also provide phone triage. Medical assistants are trained to work at the top of their scope. Urgent care and virtual clinic services are available to patients for acute care needs. All of these skilled professionals help take the pressure off primary care providers, allowing them to manage their patients longitudinally.

Technology
UW Neighborhood Clinics have been using EpicCare since opening in 1997. This robust EMR provides rich tools for supporting best practices and efficiency, as well as allowing access to patient records from across the country and throughout Western Washington.

UW Medicine Affiliation
UW Neighborhood Clinics is an entity of UW Medicine. This affiliation makes us an integral part of UW Medicine’s mission to improve the health of the public by advancing medical knowledge, providing outstanding primary and specialty care to the people of the region, and preparing tomorrow’s physicians, scientists and other health professionals. The other UW Medicine entities include Harborview Medical Center, Northwest Hospital & Medical Center, Valley Medical Center, UW Medical Center, UW Physicians, UW School of Medicine and Airlift Northwest.

Hospitals
U.S. News & World Report ranked UW Medical Center the number one best hospital in Washington and Seattle. Valley Medical Center ranked number four in Seattle and number six in state, while Harborview ranked number six in Seattle and number 11 in state.

Teaching at UW Neighborhood Clinics
Since its creation over eighteen years ago UW Neighborhood Clinics has supported clinical teaching as an integral part of our mission. Almost every UW Neighborhood Clinic physician and advanced clinician is active in some aspect of clinical teaching. The opportunity to teach remains one of the most attractive and satisfying aspects of being a part of UW Neighborhood Clinics.

Primary Care Practicum
In 2015, the UWSOM successfully launched a new 15-month streamlined “Foundation” phase of medical education, which replaced the first two years of traditional medical school. Twenty-six UWNC providers participated in the new Primary Care Practicum through teaching and exposing new students to primary care early in their training. Feedback from UWSOM students and UWNC providers was amazingly positive.
The UWSOM reduced the practicum to 12-months for 2016, and 18 UWNC providers are participating again this year.
