University Medical Center (UMC), along with El Paso Children's Hospital form our home base. Here you will find clean, well run public hospitals and the only level 1 trauma center for over 250 miles. Our EM residency program is part of a GME program hosting over 200 interns, residents and fellows. The department boasts a state of the art simulation center which provides training to not only our students and residents, but also El Paso EMS, US Border Patrol and learners from other academic departments. The West Texas Regional Poison Center, run by our toxicology faculty, is poised to host future toxicology fellows.
