About the Medical Center
Adventist Health Bakersfield (AHBD) is a 254-bed acute-care facility serving the city of Bakersfield and outlying communities of Kern County. Key services include cancer care, cardiology, diabetes and wellness education, 24-hour emergency services, home health, imaging, inpatient and outpatient burn care, maternity, mobile children’s immunizations, neurology, orthopedics, stroke treatment, surgical weight loss and Adventist Health Physicians Network clinics.
In 2014, AHBD was awarded the American Heart Association's Mission Lifeline Award. AHBD was also named the 2014-2015 Consumer Choice Award recipient by National Research Corporation, signifying SJCH as Bakersfield's Most Preferred Hospital for Overall Quality and Image. They also were the first in Kern County to offer transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) to cancer patients.
In 2016, AHBD had 22,633 admissions, 3,260 deliveries, 74,850 emergency visits and 114,835 outpatient visits. The medical center is staffed by 579 affiliated physicians, 1,999 employees and 287 volunteers.
