AVERA MEDICAL GROUP - MILLER Established in the medical practice for 40 years, the Avera Hand County Clinic consists of Dr. Joel Huber, Dr. Stephan Schroeder, Dr. Michelle Turner, Pauline Bevers, PA-C and Tom Miner, PA-C. The physicians and their physician assistants joined the Avera McKennan primary care network in November 2005.

Adjacent to the Avera Medical Group - Miller clinic is the Avera Hand County Memorial Hospital. The health care campus is currently upgraded, including a new patient service wing, a newly remodeled clinic service wing, and a newly remodeled community services wing. Services offered on the campus include laboratory, radiology, respiratory, physical, occupational, and speech therapy, home health, hospice, DME, assisted living, ambulance as well as numerous other services. Physician outreach services include audiology, cardiology, ENT, general surgery, ophthalmology, orthopedics and urology. Also, the variety of eCare services continues to grow, including ePharmacy, eER, eICU and eConsult which also offers disease specialists, allergy and dermatology services. The clinic is implementing a fully functional EMR during 2011, the hospital in 2012.
Miller is located in central South Dakota and boasts a healthy and diverse main street of businesses. The economic base of the community is largely agricultural; however a strong economic development office has recently introduced DataTrak Consulting - a medical records company, a soy bean processing plant, a wind turbine farm, a rail loop, and is strongly pursuing several other developments.

A new elementary school is being added to the education campus. Average enrollment per grade is 35 students. The chorus and band programs are always in the top echelon of the state and the athletic programs consistently put teams in the region tournament with a state runner up in 2005 boys’ basketball. The Sunshine Bible Academy offers a non-denominational religious based private school setting for K-12 with small elementary classes and a high school average class size of 20 students.
Because of Miller’s unique location, outdoor enthusiasts are at home here. Excellent photography and hunting is right outside the back door. The Missouri River is just 70 miles away to all types of water recreation and camping. Miller has a community library, parks, swimming pool, is home to an outdoor theater, and boasts a strong racing spirit as it also maintains both a dirt car-racing and go-cart racing track.
