The City of Martinsburg is the county seat for Berkeley County and is recognized as the fastest growing city in West Virginia. Located in the heart of the state's eastern panhandle, Martinsburg is also known as the gateway to the Shenandoah Valley. With its downtown revitalization, interstate/highway corridor commerce and agricultural activity, the city welcomes visitors and companies looking to relocate. Recent infrastructure improvements (water, sewer and highways) and growth through annexation has allowed Martinsburg to leader other cities in the Quad-State area. Although its economic growth is largely due to its proximity to Washington, DC, and Baltimore, MD, Martinsburg still offers the serenity of small town living and provides several recreational, cultural and arts activities.
