The Hospital

Bolivar Medical Center (BMC) is a 164-bed, acute care hospital that includes a 35-bed nursing home, 12 swing beds, and 12 geriatric beds. Bolivar Medical Center provides medical services to the people of Bolivar County and surrounding areas. As a healthcare leader in the community, the hospital offers a host of services such as a 24-hour emergency department, outpatient imaging, women’s services, wound care, urology, orthopedics, pediatric dental and behavioral health services. The hospital campus also includes two medical office buildings and an out-patient rehabilitation facility that offers adult and pediatric physical, occupational and speech therapy as well as aquatic therapy.

Bolivar Medical Center is fully accredited by The Joint Commission and is also an accredited Chest Pain Center by the by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC), the accrediting arm of the American College of Cardiology. BMC is proud to offer patients access to state-of-the-art technology including a 64-slice CT scanner, breast MRI, and hyperbaric wound care. The hospital recently underwent a $4 million renovation to upgrade patient rooms and enhance the ICU and OBGYN departments.

The Community

Located halfway between Memphis, Tennessee and Jackson, Mississippi, Cleveland is just 18 miles due east of the Mississippi River. With a population of 14,000, Cleveland offers a small town charm with the educational and cultural opportunities of a much bigger city. 

 

Cleveland is the home of Delta State University, a school of over 4,000 students that provides an abundance of activities, classes, and educational opportunities for both adults and children. The school’s 1,200-seat Bologna Performing Arts Center serves as a hub for the city’s rich cultural life, offering theater, dance, symphonies and musical performances. Chosen because of the deep musical roots of Mississippi, Cleveland is home to the first GRAMMY Museum outside of Los Angeles. There are also two 2-year community colleges that are less than an hour away. Cleveland’s downtown shopping district has earned the nickname “Shopping Mecca of the Delta” featuring unique gift shops, fashionable clothing stores and great places to eat.

Dahomey National Wildlife Refuge is an important habitat for waterfowl, bird watching and seasonal hunting. In addition, there are several local golf courses. Cleveland’s Park Commission maintains 12 local parks, including Bear Pen Park with a modern baseball complex.
