Camarena Health Chowchilla
Camarena Health, opened its doors on September of 1980 in a renovated facility with a modest practice of 1,500 medical patients. In the beginning, our services consisted of primary health care and health education for perinatal patients. Over the last 35 years we have grown to become the largest local community-based health care provider in Madera County, offering medical, dental, optometry and behavioral health services to nearly 26,500 patients in six state of the art facilities.
During our first year of operation, we saw 1,500 patients with a total of 4,400 encounters. By 2002 we provided 53,860 encounters to more than 14,000 registered patients and in 2014 the center provided 112,047 encounters to more than 26,290 patients.
Along with our general medical and dental services, Camarena Health offers a variety of specialty medical programs designed to help us better meet the unique health care needs of Madera , Oakhurst and Chowchilla. These services include a groundbreaking telemedicine program, which allows patients in our area to be seen by renowned specialists in distant cities without travelling far from home. Other services include free breast and cervical cancer screenings for qualified women, childhood vaccinations, bone density testing, and more.
As a Federally Qualified Health Center, our clinicians can also apply for loan repayment programs funded through the National Health Service Corps (HRSA).
