Fairmont Crossing, a Centra rehabilitation and health care center nestled in the foothills of Amherst County, captures the peaceful beauty of a mountain morning and provides the privacy and friendliness of a country setting.
A place for living, Fairmont Crossing is designed to mirror all that is best about Amherst County. The hilltop setting of the building allows an unbroken view of the countryside and the mountains beyond. Interior windows frame garden walkways along with the garden plots of any residents who care to exercise their green thumbs.
Carpeted hallways include alcoves to store equipment and wheelchairs normally associated with nursing. The bathing facilities are designed to be spas with plenty of mirrors to aid residents in their grooming. Dayrooms with their low partitions across from the nurse's station permit residents to enjoy a cafe atmosphere while being monitored.
Public gathering areas are spacious and welcoming with ample room to accommodate resident activities as well as community events. Fairmont Crossing offers nutritional dining, with a gracious restaurant atmosphere and choices in food. This is accomplished by having meals prepared in the main kitchen and served to residents by dining and health care staff from the serving kitchen on the dining room floor.
The private and semi-private resident rooms are spacious and attractive, and accommodate remembrances of home. Nursing and therapy areas are designed to not interfere with the home-like feeling of Fairmont Crossing, and support services such as kitchen, laundry and mechanical areas are hidden in their own separate level of the building. A barber and beauty shop are also within the building.
There's much to do at Fairmont Crossing. A fireplace is the center of a home-like common area. A huge multi-purpose activity center offers a meeting place for resident groups and organizations, which afford residents continued involvement in community activities.
The facility features circular floors, a benefit for wandering residents because it brings them back to their starting place. The courtyard can be easily monitored, yet is self-contained, and each unit can be set up as a closed unit should it be needed.
Occupational, physical and speech therapy are available in specially designed areas in addition to a special skilled care unit staffed by registered and licensed nurses.
