Central Texas Veterans Health Care System
The Central Texas Veterans Health Care System provides a range of services to approximately 238,000 veterans in 39 counties, and operates 735 beds with a staff of 3,200 people. The system's Temple site is home to Texas A&M University Health Science Center whose medical students complete their third and fourth year of clinical training at the VA facility. There are currently over 190 interns. Students from University of Mary Hardin Baylor, Central Texas College, Temple College, McClennan Community College, Austin Community College, and Tarleton State University do their clinical rotations through the facility as well. The Temple facility also has a preceptorship program for selected nursing students in association with the University of Texas, Austin.
