Community Memorial Hospital is an esteemed healthcare systemproviding primary care, performing sophisticated orthopedic surgery,meeting the burgeoning demand for same day surgery, offering skillednursing for the elderly population and convalescing patients, andproviding a complete roster of diagnostic testing and ancillaryservices.

Community Memorial Hospital primarily serves a population of 45,000people in 27 communities throughout Madison County and the easternsections of Onondaga County as well as parts of Chenango and OneidaCounties. In 2012 the hospital admitted 1,681 patients, treated 10,293patients in emergency services, and had 34,414 patient visits to thefour hospital-owned Family Health Centers. A safety net for the peopleof Central New York, Community Memorial is dedicated to treating allpatients regardless of ability to pay.

The hospital is directed by a 15-member Board of Directors comprised of influential business, education and civic leaders.The youthful medical staff includes 52 highly trained physicians who appreciate the special nature of rural practices.

Community Memorial employs nearly 400 people at wages and salariescomparable to Syracuse hospitals, and is a major economic force inMadison County. Eighty-nine registered nurses, 32 licensed practicalnurses, and 33 certified nurse aides make up the largest department inthe hospital, and with the medical staff, have created an atmosphere ofpersonal care. Despite a nationwide shortage, all nursing positions atCommunity Memorial are filled, due in part to its active educationalprograms.

Education is an important component encompassing Tuition-On-Us fornurses, Bachelor's Degree Program for employees, Rural Medical Programclinical rotations, SUNY Health Science student rotations, clinicaltraining for students in Morrisville nursing programs, and internshipsfor Albany College of Pharmacy. The hospital also provides communityeducation through local health fairs, smoking cessation programs, andevents sponsored by the hospital Auxiliary.

Medical technicians staff increasingly sophisticated departments thatfeature state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment. Administration andadministrative services are all located on the hospital campus.Housekeeping takes seriously its role as the first line of defenseagainst infection and the hospital's results are well-above industrystandards.
