Augusta, Georgia is known as the “Garden City” of the South, so named for the private gardens that can be found throughout the city. Its streets are lined with beautiful antebellum architecture, reminiscent of its origins as a trading post during colonial times. Augusta is one of just three cities along the banks of the Savannah River and is home to a number of landmarks listed on the National Register of Historic Places, including former president Woodrow Wilson’s boyhood home and College Hill.
