Genesys PHO is a partnership with Ascension Genesys Hospital and the Genesys Physician Group Practice (GPGP). Ascension Medical Group Genesys is a large group practice consisting of more than 60 Primary Care Physicians, 1 After Hour Clinic, 7 Physical Therapy Facilities and 3 Diagnostic Centers, all of which are located throughout Genesee County as well as Lapeer, Tuscola, Shiawassee and Oakland counties. Our primary care physicians in the Ascension Genesys Network act as health care advocates offering a resource to outpatient ambulatory care, physical medicine treatment and mental health services.

Welcome to Flint and Genesee County, Michigan! As of 2012 Genesee County has a population of 418,408. Genesee County is Michigan’s 5th most populated county. The City of Flint is the county seat and is the seventh largest city in Michigan, with a population of more than 100,000.

The City of Flint was a pioneer in the automotive industry and is the birthplace of General Motors and the United Auto Workers Union. Men such as David Buick, Louis Chevrolet, Albert Champion, Billy Durant, C.S. Mott, Walter Chrysler, Charles Nash and Alfred Sloan lived and worked in Flint. Much of Flint’s history can be viewed at the Sloan Museum, the Buick Gallery and Research Center and the Whaley Historic House Museum.

Flint’s automotive history is celebrated every August, in downtown Flint and at sites across Genesee County, during the 5-day Back to the Bricks Cruise and Car Show http://backtothebricks.org/, which is one of the largest and fastest-growing car shows in the nation. Flint is also the home to one of the most famous 10-mile foot races in the world, the Crim Festival of Races http://crim.org, which takes place yearly in mid-August.

Today Flint & Genesee County remain at the center of the auto industry, but have also transformed into a college town with Kettering University, the University of Michigan-Flint, Mott Community College, Baker College and more.

In recent years it has also developed into a center for the health care industry with Ascension Genesys Hospital http://www.ascension.org as well as two other medical centers, Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy and most recently with the addition of the new Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine – Flint Campus.

While Genesee County has much to offer locally, it is also centrally located between I-75, I-475, US-23 and I-69, making travel to the larger college towns like the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and Michigan State University in East Lansing just minutes away. The amenities offered in the City of Detroit are within a one hour drive and the close proximity of the recreational activities available on the Great Lakes are just a few hours away.
