Hospital in Western Colorado
This hospital is located at the base of the Grand Mesa, the world’s largest flat-topped mountain. Although the hospital has been in business for over 40 years, a new hospital building was built in 2004 consisting of 98,000 square feet and 49 beds. The hospital is a DNV accredited facility owned and operated by the residents of the county. The following services and expanded services were added to the capabilities of the hospital through the construction of the new building with fixed-based MRI scanning, mobile PET CT, digital radiology and ultrasound capabilities, additional ORs, pulmonary testing, cardiac rehabilitative services, stereotactic breast biopsy services and additional obstetrical services. A five member, elected Board of Directors from towns throughout the county oversees the operation of the facility. The Board Members are volunteers who serve the citizens of the county, in addition to working full-time in their jobs and businesses. The Hospital Administrator and Department Managers, who supervise a staff of approximately 480 employees, direct the day-to-day operations of the hospital and several surrounding clinics. The hospital is a non-for-profit hospital district whose services expand across the county, with a primary service area of 40,000 lives.
