Known as the second largest medical center in the Air Force, the 81st Medical Group consists of six functional squadrons under its operation: The 81st Medical Operations Squadron, 81st Surgical Operations Squadron, 81st Aerospace Medicine Squadron, 81st Diagnostics and Therapeutics Squadron, 81st Medical Support Squadron and the 81st Dental Squadron.
Keesler Medical Center serves over 56,000 beneficiaries within a 40-mile catchment area. About 35,000 outpatients are seen in the clinics each month including 800 to 1,000 patients from other medical facilities throughout the southeastern United States through the Aeromedical Evacuation System. Equipped with 100 operating inpatient beds and a staff of more than 2,100 people, the center represents a major concentration of professional capability.
In addition to maintaining the highest level of wartime readiness, the men and women of the 81st Medical Group are committed to providing the highest quality health care to military members and eligible beneficiaries. Either through direct care access to the medical center or through the TRICARE system, patients have a variety of services to choose from.
