Landstuhl Regional Medical Center and its affiliated health centers are located throughout Europe. Landstuhl facilities in Germany include Wiesbaden, Baumholder and Kaiserslautern, and other affiliates include SHAPE and NATO in Belgium, and Vicenza and Livorno in Italy.
Landstuhl is located in southwestern Germany 10 KM west of Kaiserslautern and is the home to approximately 9,000 people. The most well-known symbol in the city is the Nanstein Castle, or Burg Nanstein. The castle’s long-standing history began around the year 1162 when it was constructed on Holy Roman Emperor Frederick I’s orders. The castle endured extensive damage during a siege nearly 400 years later and was fully reconstructed in 1595 under the direction of Reinhard von Sickingen.
