Luke AFB Outpatient Clinic
The 56th Medical Group, located near Phoenix, AZ and is an outpatient only Medical Treatment Facility which serves more than 90,000 beneficiaries (active duty military members, retirees and their families) in the immediate area.
The 56th Medical Group supports the 56th Fighter Wing in its mission to train the best F-16 and F-35 fighter pilots in the world. The Medical Group is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. The Medical Group, with almost 500 assigned personnel, has a three-pronged mission that emphasizes providing great healthcare, promoting safety and wellness, and military readiness. We strive every day to fulfill our mission, which is to deliver trusted care to all we serve.
The group is comprised of four squadrons:
MDOS provides comprehensive primary care to TRICARE-enrolled patients at the medical group. The squadron is comprised of 4 flights: Family Health, Medical Services, Mental Health, and Surgical Services. They have a combined strength of nearly 175 assigned personnel. Available services include: allergy, cardiopulmonary, chiropractic, family advocacy, family medicine, immunization, internal medicine, mental health, pediatrics, physical therapy, orthopedic and general surgery, substance abuse counseling, and woman’s health. Combined, these clinics average more than 8,700 patient visits per month totaling approximately 104,400 visits per year.
The 56th Dental Squadron Mission is to promote safety and wellness, ensure mission-ready forces, and unleash great dental care. We provide active-duty members comprehensive dental care while supporting the readiness of the 56th Fighter Wing to respond to worldwide contingencies. The Aerospace Medicine Squadron mission is to support the flying, training and deployment mission of the 56th Fighter Wing. Our primary mission is to provide routine medical care to the base flying population, their dependents, and other special duty personnel. Personnel eligible for medical care include pilots, navigators, air traffic controllers, flight engineers, and their dependents along with any others who hold a 2992 clearance to fly/control/jump and are assigned to special operational duties. We have 5 Flight Surgeons, 1 Aerospace Physiologist, and approximately 46+ specialized support staff. This also includes Public Health, Bioenvironmental Engineering, Optometry, and Health Promotions support for Luke aeromedical, occupational, environmental and preventative medicine programs.
Ensures ready fighting forces by providing administrative, financial, data analysis, management, and therapeutic services essential to health promotion and healthcare for 5,500 military personnel and 85,000 eligible beneficiaries. Prepares wing personnel for expeditionary operations to support global missions. Supports 194,000 annual patient visits in an integrated $100M managed care environment.
