MarinHealth Medical Center
MarinHealth Medical Center, located in Greenbrae, is Marin County’s largest provider of acute care services. The Hospital was established in 1952 and is owned and operated by the Marin Healthcare District. Marin General is unique in offering the personalized, patient-centered care of a community hospital, combined with services one expects from a tertiary center. The 235-bed facility includes an outstanding comprehensive cancer program, excellent cardiac surgery, da Vinci robotic surgery, neurosurgery, and a Level 3 Trauma Center. Physician and community engagement is a cornerstone of the Hospital. Marin County is an affluent community with high expectations and healthy lifestyles and the Hospital mirrors these values. Since 2010, the Hospital has been recognized for excellence and award-winning care by multiple independent sources. Most notably, MarinHealth Medical Center received the Healthgrades Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence for 2014 and 2015.
As the North Bay’s premiere healthcare destination, MarinHealth Medical Center must comply with rigorous new regulations in healthcare and seismic safety by the year 2030. The Marin Healthcare District sees this as an opportunity to provide the community with a new state-of-the-art hospital.
Plans for the new hospital include a four-story, 260,000 square-foot hospital replacement building; a five-story, 100,000 square-foot ambulatory services building, and two parking structures. The new facilities, designed by LBL Architects, will be completed in 2020. Every aspect of the hospital will meet or exceed the latest state-mandated standards for earthquake safety. The hospital will continue to operate throughout the construction process.
