Mayo Clinic Health System - Lake City

Mayo Clinic Health System - Lake City Logo Lake City, Minnesota, is the birthplace of waterskiing. To many, Lake City, a community of over 7,500 people nestled between the bluffs on the shores of Lake Pepin, is known as the most beautiful spot on the Mississippi River. With beautiful bluffs, rich farmland and scenic valleys, Lake City offers prime locations for a variety of recreation - including downhill, cross-country and waterskiing, bicycling, icefishing, hiking, snowmobiling and other activities.

Lake Pepin offers some of the best boating in the Upper Midwest, and Lake City boasts the largest marina on the Mississippi. This section of the Mississippi River is also a flyway for migrating swans, geese, ducks and even pelicans. Many will temporarily touch down within camera range. Bald eagles perch in huge old trees along the river banks and wait for their meals to float by. Lake City is just 65 miles south of Minneapolis/St. Paul, and 30 miles north of Rochester, Minnesota.
