St. Clare Hospital is a leader in rural health care in south central Wisconsin. It is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and winner of the 2000 Wisconsin Forward Award - Governor's Award of Excellence. The Baraboo area school district consists of six elementary schools, one middle, and one high school. Baraboo parents can also choose between one Catholic and one Lutheran school. Baraboo High School students consistently score more than two points above the national ACT mean score and one point above the state average.

Located in the southwestern region of Wisconsin, Baraboo is just 50 miles from Madison, 120 miles from Milwaukee, and about 200 miles from both Chicago to the southeast and St. Paul/Minneapolis to the northwest.
