Located in the heart of Ville Platte, Louisiana, Mercy Regional Medical Center is a 109-bed acute care, facility with campuses in Ville Platte and Eunice, Louisiana that provide medical services to the people of Evangeline and St. Landry parishes as well as the surrounding areas. A healthcare leader in the community, the hospital offers a host of services including: inpatient, outpatient and emergency services including surgery; imaging services that include MRI, CT scan and nuclear medicine; cardiology, women’s services with obstetrics at the Eunice campus; and cardiac rehab, physical therapy and other rehabilitation services. Medical staff specialties include internal medicine, family practice, pediatrics, orthopedics, ENT, urology, radiology, ophthalmology, interventional cardiology, and general surgery.

Ville Platte (French for “flat town”), the parish seat of Evangeline parish, is accessible by Interstate 49, as well as U.S. 167 and 190. In keeping with its Cajun Heritage, Ville Platte is the host for numerous festivals throughout the year such as the Louisiana Cotton Festival, the Louisiana Cajun Gumbo Festival and, Le Tournoi de la Ville Platte that features the ancient tradition of jousting. The last full weekend in June is known for its Smoked Meat Festival that features an array of cooking and plenty of music. The city of Ville Platte has been officially recognized by the Louisiana Legislature as the “Swamp Pop Capital of the World.”
Louisiana is known as the “Sportsman Paradise”, and Evangeline Parish is no exception. Ville Plate is home to Chicot State Park, 6,400 beautiful acres of lakes and woods complete with newly updated lodging and cabins, making the area perfect for camping, fishing, swimming, picnics and hiking. The park also features an Olympic sized pool and a boathouse, along with several boat launches. Nearby Atchafalya Basin is one of the great ecological wonders of the United States. The basin, which abounds in all types of wildlife, extends from north of Morgan City past Lafayette. It is comprised of a maze of bayous, lakes, ponds and cypress swamps. Avid bird watchers and photographers may spot upwards of 300 known species of birds in the natural paradise.
