The MSU Health Team is the multi-specialty medical practice comprised of teaching faculty from MSU’s College of Human Medicine, College of Osteopathic Medicine, and College of Nursing. We are continuing to grow, offering primary and specialty health care services to the general public. The MSU HealthTeam is comprised of approximately 200 physicians and nurse practitioners from 14 clinical departments, as well as many allied health professionals such as nurses, psychologists, social workers, therapists and nutritionists. MSU HealthTeam providers are also actively involved in teaching and clinical research, keeping them on the forefront of the latest medical advances.     The providers practice at clinic locations throughout the greater Lansing area. The largest clinical practice is the MSU Clinical Center, which is located on the MSU campus. This site offers multiple primary and specialty services, as well as a pharmacy, laboratory and radiology services. Our practices are open to the general public. One of the missions of MSU HealthTeam is to provide health care education to graduate physicians in residency training, as well as to medical and nursing students. Under the guidance of staff physicians and nurses, these students often participate in patient care programs.

MSU is known internationally as a major U.S. public university with global reach and has been advancing knowledge and transforming lives through innovative teaching, research, and outreach for over 150 years. MSU is a member of the Association of American Universities, the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges, and the Big Ten athletic conference.

Every year, through 38 residency programs established in partnership with Michigan State University’s Colleges of  Human and Osteopathic Medicine, the committed clinicians at SHS help train approximately 210 residents.  On February 23, 2009 Sparrow and Michigan State University signed a formal affiliation that has improved the region’s health care by increasing research opportunities, attracting sub-specialist physicians and enhancing medical and nursing education.  The agreement includes the commitment to develop collaborative efforts to constantly improve the quality of care in the region, achieve national benchmarks in patient care, enhance service and access, establish a joint institutional review board to streamline the review of potential research projects, and an emphasis on attracting new medical research and clinical trials to the region.
