The community is located approximately one hour from Topeka and two hours from Kansas City. The community has an excellent school system and numerous church denominations. There are several industries here which afford employment opportunities. The lake, just north of the city, offers fishing, camping, water skiing, and boating. The Parks and Recreation Department offers a year round program for people of all ages in and around the community. Current programs for youth include: baseball, softball, soccer, tennis, swim lessons, swim team and karate classes. Programs for adults include: volleyball (co-rec, men, women's) leagues, basketball, men's softball, church softball (co-rec), karate and fitness classes.
