OmniPoint Physicians

No one knows the life of a physician better than another physician

OmniPoint Surgery is a group of surgeons that knows what it is like to have family and still try to provide time both at home and with the practice.   We know that with increases in cost of healthcare practice for the physician it has become harder to stand alone.  OmniPoint allows you flexibility of joining a group, but living where you want and traveling to practice where surgical coverage is needed within our designated markets.

OmniPoint was formed to address some of the unique challenges of delivering quality specialty care to rural communities. We are providing a level of depth, maturity, continuity and commitment that is lacking in the current models provided by Locums Tenens companies. OmniPoint is a subsidiary of LifePoint Hospitals Inc., a leading hospital company that currently operates more than 6o hospitals in 20 states and whose focus is to provide quality healthcare in the communities they serve.

Rural Surgery Markets

Rural Hospital care has many challenges, including remoteness, provider and staff shortages, financial, physical, and intellectual resource deficiencies, to identify just a few.Every hospital needs high quality, predictable surgical care to anchor their clinical program and ensure financial success. The limited size of our markets and the concurrent small number of surgeons who provide care for these markets create several major challenges for the Surgery Service line:
-24/7 call coverage can be difficult to achieve with limited providers and negatively impacts surgeon lifestyle, patient care, and hospital performance.
-Quality of life for Surgeons in these markets is negatively affected by either excessive call coverage or inconsistent quality and coverage by hired Locums tenens surgeons.
-The loss of a surgeon for any reason severely damages the service line and takes years for the system to recover.
-Hiring additional surgeons specifically for coverage (lifestyle) may result in an over- supply of surgeon resources, decreasing individual production (and therefore reward) resulting in the loss of a surgeon. (See # 3 above).

The creation of OmniPoint is aimed at providing a pool of experienced, rotating Surgeons who serve designated markets within LifePoint, providing them with specific benefits.
