Outer Banks Hospital
The Outer Banks Hospital is a full service critical access hospital offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. The hospital opened in March 2002 and is one of the newest hospitals in eastern North Carolina. The hospital is designed to meet the needs of our coastal community, whose year-round population of approximately 35,000 swells to about 250,000 in the summer season. OBH, which is fully accredited by the Joint Commission (JACHO), provides high quality care in a compassionate environment to all patients, regardless of their ability to pay, and has been nationally recognized for its outstanding patient care.
The hospital's 21 private rooms are comfortably furnished with built-in couches for family members and visitors. Two of the hospital's 21 beds are designed as labor/delivery/recovery/postpartum rooms, and one is a Level 1 nursery bed. More than 400 babies are born here every year.
Vidant Medical Group is a multi-specialty physician group sponsored by Vidant Health. Currently Vidant Medical Group employs over 425 providers including primary care and specialists. The group offers the infrastructure needed to manage a modern medical practice including processes for billing and collection, group contracting, electronic medical records and other technologies.
The Outer Banks of North Carolina is a chain of barrier islands stretching from the Virginia border south to Ocracoke Island.
