Rural, Island Medicine at Its Best!
Accessible by floatplane or boat & located on the third largest island in the U.S., with a total population of approximately 3,000. The Craig Clinic is a busy outpatient clinic serving the community of Craig and others located on Prince of Wales Island. We occupy a beautiful, newly constructed building.
Our island community is located in southern Southeast Alaska, approximately 750 miles north of Seattle, and a thirty-minute floatplane ride or three-hour ferry ride from Ketchikan, Alaska. We're also in the heart of the Tongass National Forest, a temperate rainforest where recreational opportunities abound. An often unexpected treasure is our vibrant arts community. Craig is a very family-oriented community. Our schools are excellent and include public, alternative, and correspondence options. Timber, commercial fishing, and fish processing are the major industries on Prince of Wales Island. Like much of Southeast Alaska, tourism is quickly becoming a vital part of the economy in Craig and Prince of Wales Island as a result of the abundant recreational opportunities. These include charter fishing, shrimping and crabbing, hunting wildlife viewing and photography, hiking, and Native Alaskan cultural education.
