Presbyterian Hospital is a community based, not for profit hosptial and the largest tertiary care center in New Mexico with 453 licensed beds. Presbyterian Hospital is affiliated with Presbyterian Health Services (PHS), the largest healthcare system in New Mexico. It is non-profit and governed by community boards of trustees. Its major components are a hospital system (8 hospitals including two in Albuquerque), a multi-specialty physician group and the largest health insurance plan in New Mexico. The Presbyterian Medical Group (PMG) employs approximately 500 providers. Despite current economic conditions, PHS is financially sound and continues to receive an AA bond rating. PHS aims at very high standards and has the resources to achieve them. One of the explicit goals of PHS is to be in the national top 10% in patient safety. PHS is rapidly moving forward in clinical automation and is progressing, stepwise, toward a complete electronic medical record and physician order entry system.
