Facility: A fully equipped, full service primary care center, with on-site lab, pharmacy, and social services, Puyallup Medical Center provides the full scope of family care for all ages, from infancy thru geriatrics. Built in 2013, the new ?53,000 square-foot building holds 57 care rooms on two floors, offering patients ample parking and easy access to additional services such as lab, pharmacy, and radiology. Located in the South Hill Business and Technology Center, it is less than two miles from the current location. All current services offered at Puyallup will move to the new building, with the addition of Obstetrics (pre- and post-natal care) and Eye Care Services.
Patients and care team members spent hundreds of hours designing spaces and processes that add up to the ideal care visit experience. Patients and staff alike will notice more streamlined services: less waiting, less traveling from place to place, and an overall quicker visit. For example, in many cases, lab services and injections will be brought into the exam room.
Specialty care is provided at Group Health specialty centers in Tacoma or other nearby locations. Hospital care provided by Group Health hospitalist teams in local community hospitals, plus Group Health’s state-of-the-art electronic medical record and our integrated system help provide for ideal care coordination across the care spectrum.
Community: Originally an agricultural community and now a modest “city” of 30,000, Puyallup offers all the appeal of small town life—including lower cost of living, attractive family-friendly neighborhoods, a highly rated school system, and a recently revamped pedestrian-friendly downtown—without sacrificing easy access to the cultural and recreational amenities of the big city. Located just east of Tacoma and a comfortable hour’s drive south of Seattle, Puyallup’s central location makes it easy to sample all the Northwest has to offer. And from Seattle’s strong and vibrant arts and theatre community, that includes world-class opera, ballet, and symphony groups to Tacoma’s world-renowned Glass Museum to the excitement of professional baseball, football, soccer, and basketball teams, there is truly something for everyone. Add to that a year-round mild climate, exquisite natural beauty, and some of North America’s best skiing, hiking and boating opportunities on the area’s many inlets and sounds and on the slopes of magnificent Mount Rainier, and you have the total package. Known as the “gateway to Mount Rainier,” Puyallup is a short jaunt from one of North America’s highest peaks; staying in touch with its agricultural roots, it’s also the home of a very popular state fair, a yearly daffodil festival, and one of the best farmer’s markets you’ll ever see.
