The essential duties and responsibilities of a Physician Assistant for the Cancer Center include:
-Maintaining an environment of safety for patients, self and others
-Obtaining histories and performing a complete or problem focused physical examination of patients
-Ordering and/or performing, evaluating, interpreting and integrating findings of diagnostic tests and procedures to formulate health management plans
-Discussing patient care needs with physicians and/or other health professionals -Evaluating and making recommendations for patient/family health management plans with full consideration of patient safety needs under the direction of the supervising physician-Referring patients to physicians or to specialized healthcare resources for consultation/treatment as appropriate
-Providing patient/family education and counseling
-Prescribing medication as permitted by the N.C. Board of Medical Examiners and/or the N.C. Board of Nursing
-Maintaining patients' medical records according to established standards and documents in a systematic, accurate and succinct format and reviewing these records with supervisory physicians on a routine basis
-Participating in continuing education and/or continuing medical education as required by licensing bodies and medical staff bylaws
Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
Candidate is required to have a Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification and be licensed as a Physician Assistant in the state of North Carolina (PA NC LIC).
It is preferred that the candidate have a high school diploma/GED, a Bachelor's degree and/or a Master's degree and four (4) years of previous related experience and/or training.
