South Central 1925
Located in South Central Kansas, this community is the county seat and is considered the "Wheat Capital of the World." This area produces vast quantities of winter wheat and wheat is still the driving force behind the local economy. The community has easy access to transportation facilities; it's served by several main highways and railroads, an excellent airport and is also within driving distance of the state's largest city. The main business street, runs along a ridge above the valley of a creek and has several interesting turn-of-the-century buildings. The downtown area offers plenty of shopping in a variety of stores.
The city lake west of town has extensive parks and campgrounds and an impressive memorial for war veterans located downtown. Fishing is also popular in the at the local park. The community also boast one of the state's best golf courses.
