St. John's Hospital is the flagship hospital of Hospital Sisters Health System and has been a healing presence in the Springfield community for over 135 years.
St. John's Children's Hospital (SJCH) is an 80-bed hospital within a hospital with St. John's Hospital as the parent organization. SJCH includes a 40-bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, 8-bed Pediatric ICU and 32-bed general and intermediate care unit. In addition, the Children's Hopsital houses the Carol Jo Veccie Women's Center, a 38 bed LDPR and antepartum unit. SJCH is home to the Level III Perinatal Center, has dedicated pediatric and maternal air-ground transport teams, is the Level II Trauma Center for pediatrics and serves a population of approximately 650,000 from surrounding counties within the south-central Illinois region. SJCH works in collaboration with Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in providing education for residents and medical students. SJCH is the ONLY comprehensive chid health care facility in south-central Illinois.
