Swift County-Benson Hospital
Benson is located where MN Highways 9, 29 and U.S. Highway 12 intersect in West Central Minnesota. The Chippewa River runs through Benson and through a championship 18-hole golf course, located at the edge of town. There are many lakes nearby, most notably Lake Minnewaska, which is a 20-minute drive away. Benson offers a modern airport and large industry base including 5 manufacturing firms, which have recently expanded. An ethanol plant also was recently constructed.
In 1996, a congregate living housing project was completed, attached to the hospital. Swift County-Benson Hospital is in the final stages of an expansion/renovation project, constructing a new emergency room and relocating and expanding the rehabilitation department and developing special procedure rooms for visiting consulting specialists. Benson is 30 miles from Willmar, offering a regional medical center, technical college and community college. Benson is also 25 miles from Morris, location of a branch of the University of MN.
