Community: A mid-size city located just one hour south of Seattle, Tacoma was recently rated one of Money magazine’s “best places to live.” Featuring nearly 100 parks, plus theme parks, hiking trails, world-class museums, including the world-renowned Museum of Glass, performing arts, and professional sports arenas, Tacoma supports many big-city conveniences, without losing its small-town appeal and lower cost of living. Tacoma also embraces a diverse community and is a co-founder of "Safe Streets", a national model for neighborhood protection and enhancement. If that’s not enough for you, it’s just a short jaunt from Seattle’s many shopping, dining and entertainment venues—including a strong and vibrant arts and theatre community with world-class opera, ballet, and symphony groups. For other tastes, Seattle offers professional baseball, football, soccer, and basketball teams.
