Wayne Hospital

Wayne Hospital Logo Greenville is the county seat of Darke County, Ohio, and has a population of 13,227 as of the 2010 census. The city had its beginning as Fort Greene Ville, a pioneer fort built under General Anthony Wayne's command. At over 55 acres this was the largest wooden fortification ever built. Home to The Great Darke County Fair that runs for nine days in August, Greenville is also home to KitchenAid (small appliances), FRAM Group (a leading automotive care products manufacturer), and BASF (North America). There are also historic sites of interest, such as the Bear's Mill that was built in 1849 and is an authentic example of a stonegrinding flour mill of its time. Placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977, it is still in use today to grind cornmeal, whole wheat flour, rye flour, and pancake mixes. Other sites include the Garst Museum and St. Clair Memorial Hall, which is the center for the arts in Darke County.
