Wellpath - Alaska Psychiatric Institute (API)
The Alaska Psychiatric Institute (API) provides acute, inpatient mental health services for adolescents and adults requiring hospitalization for a psychiatric crisis. API is the state psychiatric hospital and is located in Anchorage. The Institute has a normal capacity of 72 beds with a stretch capacity of 80. The beds are organized into three units: medium to long term, adolescent, and secure single Forensic Unit with ten (10) beds to serve adult patients who are involved with the criminal justice system.
Mission: To provide emergency and court-ordered inpatient psychiatric services in a safe environment using culturally-sensitive, effective, person-centered treatment followed by a referral to an appropriate level of care and support for recovery from mental illness.
