Western Plains Medical Complex

Western Plains Medical Complex Logo The county seat of Ford County, Kansas, Dodge City was named after nearby Fort Dodge and is famous for its history as a wild frontier town of the Old West. The city has hot summers, highly variable winters with warm and very cold periods, and low to moderate humidity and precipitation throughout the year. With a 2010 census population of 27,340, Dodge City traces its origins to 1871, but by 1886, the cowboys, saloon keepers, gamblers, and brothel owners moved west to greener pastures, and Dodge City became a sleepy little town much like other communities in western Kansas.
