More Information About ProHealth Physicians

We invite you learn more about our practice and our dedicated health care team.

Who we are:

ProHealth Physicians is a primary care, group practice serving more than 300,000 patients at nearly 80 practice locations throughout the state of Connecticut.  As a physician-owned and -led organization, we offer a unique opportunity to participate in shaping the future of health care in our state. Our model prioritizes the voice of the physician; as a result, our membership continues to grow.  Currently we represent 200 primary care physicians, a select number of specialists, and 100 APRNs and PAs.

Ownership & Governance:

ProHealth is entirely owned and governed by its Shareholder Physicians, whose primary goal is to improve the quality of patient care and outcomes while reducing overall health care costs.  ProHealth is a for-profit, privately-held stock corporation governed by two Boards: ProHealth Physicians P.C., the clinical entity, and ProHealth Physicians, Inc., the management entity. The two Boards are comprised of Shareholder Physicians that are elected by their physician peers. Each Board also includes external members who contribute the knowledge they’ve gained from their years of experience in the health

care industry.  In addition to the two Boards, ProHealth has various committees (e.g. Finance, Risk Management, Credentialing, and Clinical Performance), comprised of physician, APRN, and PA-C volunteers. Combined, the Boards and committees, in partnership with experienced industry

professionals and a seasoned executive management team, determine policies and strategies that guide our success as a group.  On a day-to-day basis, activities and decisions regarding setting schedules,

office hours, staffing compliment, and patient volumes are made at the practice level by the Shareholding Physicians. While there are certain core systems and standards that apply to all practices, the level of local autonomy allows each practice to maintain control over daily practice operations while being part of a large group practice.

Our Goal - Our Progress - Our Plan:

ProHealth’s goal is to create a physician-driven health care delivery system that addresses the needs of today’s health care market (i.e. improved outcomes, lower costs, and enhanced services).

In 2010, we became fully implemented on Electronic Health Records (EHR). As of June 2011, we achieved NCQA Level 3 Medical Home recognition.  In 2013, ProHealth’s strategic plan includes establishing ourselves as an Accountable Care Organization (ACO) owned and governed by physicians.
