The Quincy Unit, a program of Arbour Hospital, is an 18-bed High Intensity Inpatient Psychiatric Unit located in Quincy, Mass. The focus of the unit is to care for male, female and transgender patients 18 years of age and older who are in need of targeted treatment. It houses predominantly single-patient rooms, enabling Arbour Hospital to provide services for patients who have clinical presentations that benefit from single room availability and special observation including, but not limited to, those who may be assaultive or aggressive.
The therapeutic milieu is designed to be an interpersonal environment which contributes to patients’ recovery. Daily events, interactions and surroundings are purposefully structured to help patients learn more responsible ways of behaving and coping with problems.
Treatment is multimodal and includes:
• Psychopharmacology • Individual and Group Therapy • Occupational Therapy enhanced by utilization of sensory interventions
Therapeutic modalities include psychotherapeutic intervention, activities of daily living, and psycho-education with individual and groups of patients. Other consultation services available include nutritional, psychological, neurological and somatic therapy including electroconvulsive treatment.
