Camden-Clark Medical Center Logo Located at the confluence of the Ohio and Little Kanawha Rivers, Parkersburg is the third largest city in West Virginia and is the county seat of Wood County.. The population was 31,492 at the 2010 census. Higher education in Parkersburg includes Mountain State College, a private, for-profit, two-year college; Ohio Valley University in nearby Vienna; and Meredith Manor, a private technical school for equestrians, located slightly north of the city in Waverly. Museums are plentiful in Parkersburg and include Blennerhassett Museum of Regional History, Henry Cooper Log Cabin Museum, Oil and Gas Museum, Sumnerite African-American History Museum, The Artcraft Studio, and Veterans Museum of Mid-Ohio Valley. There are also several historical and recreational parks in the immediate area.
