Cook Children’s Health Care System is one of the country’s leading free standing integrated pediatric health care systems. Cook Children’s is comprised of eight entities – a Medical Center, Physician Network, Home Health company, Northeast Hospital, Pediatric Surgery Center, Health Plan, Health Services, Inc., and Health Foundation. Cook Children’s has 4400 employees and the Medical Center is licensed for 457 beds (160 of those are intensive care). CCHCS has been named to the Top 100 Integrated Health Care Networks by IMS Health – the only free standing children’s system to make the list. Cook Children’s records approximately one million patient encounters each year through its Medical Center, Specialty Clinics, Neighborhood Clinics, Primary Care offices, outpatient settings, and Home Health. This includes 12,000 inpatient admissions (2000 to neonatal and pediatric intensive care) and 105,000 Emergency Department visits per year (an EMS-designated Trauma Center for Tarrant County).There are more than 30 specialties/subspecialties with more than 60 primary and specialty care offices throughout North and West Texas. CCHCS has one of the country’s largest pediatric/neonatal transport teams, transporting 2200 children annually primarily for critical care. The transport team was awarded the Children’s Miracle Network’s Miracle Achievement Award in recognition of their exceptional accomplishments and notable work in the field. Our Medical Center received Magnet designation, ranking in the top 5% of the nation’s hospitals for nursing excellence. For the second consecutive year CCMC is one of only eleven children’s hospitals named to the prestigious Leapfrog Group’s Top Hospitals in Quality and Patient Safety. Cook Children’s ranked in six out of 10 specialties in the US News and World Report list of Best Children’s Hospitals 2012-2013. CCHCS consistently is ranked highly in employee satisfaction winning such recognition as the Top 100 Places to Work (Dallas Morning News), a National Top Work Place by Workplace Dynamics (based on employee feedback at large companies from all different industries), and a Top Healthcare Employer (the only exclusively pediatric healthcare system on the list) by Modern Healthcare Magazine.
