Harrison Memorial Hospital - Cynthiana
Harrison Memorial Hospital - Cynthiana
Situated along the banks of the South Fork of the Licking River in the golden triangle. Cynthiana is just 28 miles northeast of Lexington, 90 miles from Louisville, and 60 miles south of Cincinnati. The city was established in 1793 and according to tradition was named in honor of Cynthia and Anna Harrison, daughters of Robert Harrison who had donated the property for the town. Cynthiana is the county seat for Harrison County and has a population of 6,200. The region's fertile soil and climate are ideally suited to the cultivation of burley tobacco which has had a major economic, social, and cultural influence on the county since the early 19th century. Burley tobacco is still produced here on a smaller scale along with the hay, corn, and beef cattle. Cynthiana also boasts several manufacturing companies and an excellent educational system, four parks that are venues for local intramural sports, and a downtown that is lined with cast iron facade buildings and hosts many events throughout the year.
