Hutchinson is the largest city in, and the county seat of, Reno County, Kansas. The city is located on the Arkansas River, 39 miles northwest of Wichita, It has been home to salt mines since 1887, thus its nickname of ''Salt City''. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 42,080. It is the home of the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center aerospace museum and Kansas Underground Salt Museum.
