Facility Description:
The Emergency Department at King’s Daughters’ Health cares for over 18,000 patients each year. Medical emergencies require a quick response and a highly trained staff. King’s Daughters’ provides emergency care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Physicians in the ER access advanced diagnostic tests, high-resolution imagery, and a fully staffed laboratory. King’s Daughters’ also offers emergency helicopter transport capability for patients in critical, life-threatening situations. To promote more efficient service, Nurse Practitioners provide less critical patients the option of fast-track care. This helps families avoid unnecessary waiting when the physician is assisting more seriously injured or ill patients. Within its 10 private rooms, the KDH Emergency Department houses a decontamination room for patients exposed to chemicals, gases, and other unknown substances. Emergency teams also have access to a new, mobile decontamination unit that can be set-up in the event of a large-scale disaster.
