This historical city is situated where the Delaware Bay and Atlantic Ocean meet, at Cape Henlopen. Miles of beautiful beaches, nature trails, and bird sanctuaries are preserved in the Cape Henlopen State Park. Historical roots run deep in Lewes, from Lewes Beach, which was an important stop on the Underground Railroad, to the 18th century Roosevelt Inlet Shipwreck off the Delaware Bay. And if you ever get tired of the sands on your side of the Atlantic, Cape May in New Jersey is only a short ferry ride away!
