Albany is known as the Quail Hunting Capital of the World, and the city government has been designated as a City of Excellence and a City of Ethics by the Georgia Municipal Association. Home to Albany State University, Albany Technical Institute, and Darton College as well as several parks, an art museum, an elaborate upgrade of its riverfront area, and a minor league football team, Albany offers a great deal. The defining, natural feature of the Albany region is the Flint River, which terminates at Radium Springs, the state’s largest natural spring. The spring features flowing crystal clear water that maintains a constant year-round temperature of 68 degrees. The river basin has created a natural wonderland for hiking, fishing, and hunting.
