We have successfully treated patients hooked on all types of addiction-causing substances, including cocaine, meth, heroin, prescription opiates, and many more. With addiction rates increasing at an alarming rate, it’s important to fight back with effective treatments and care. We understand your needs, and our doctors, nurses and counselors will provide comfort and care as you transform back into a life of sobriety.
Schick Shadel Hospital was founded in 1935 by Charles A. Shadel. A pioneer of his time, Shadel understood what very few in his time knew: alcoholism is a disease, a neurological illness that is mentally and emotionally incredibly difficult to control or manage. Unlike many of his peers, Shadel understood that addiction was not a result of weak willpower or moral failure, but rather a physiological response to stimuli. He worked to treat addiction on the level that it existed: as part of a neurological response. As a result of his work, Schick Shadel developed a method of treatment we called “counter conditioning.”
Schick Shadel Hospital’s mission is to care for our patients with innovative, compassionate techniques that treat their disease as exactly that: a disease.
