OUR FACILITY

If you are looking for a better quality of life, Southern Ohio Medical Center is the place to start. Our 248 bed, not for profit community hospital is located in Portsmouth, Ohio. Our medical facilities house the latest technology in several areas of diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention.

SOMC is the top hospital on the Fortune 100 Best Places to work list and is also a Magnet Nursing facility.  We recently completed a 100 million dollar expansion focusing on a new Heart & Vascular Center, a four-story tower providing medical/surgical private rooms and 12 new surgical suites (nine general, one vascular and two cardiothoracic).

Portsmouth is a family-oriented community with a service area of 250,000. Located along the Ohio River, Portsmouth offers services to southern Ohio and northern Kentucky. There are many cultural and recreational amenities: a local orchestra, museum, theaters, water sports, several challenging golf courses, and other outdoor activities. The city of Portsmouth is only 80 miles south of Columbus and 110 miles east of Cincinnati, with easy access to major metropolitan areas in the tri-state region.
