FACILITY
In 2008 St. Vincent*s HealthCare purchased St. Luke*s Hospital, one of the cornerstones in the Jacksonville healthcare community, in a move that extended St. Vincent*s historical mission of serving the sick and the poor to the Southside.
Mayo Clinic Jacksonville, which operated St. Luke*s Hospital, moved its services to a new building located on its San Pablo campus. At that time, St. Vincent*s HealthCare assumed operations of St. Luke*s Hospital as a brand new healthcare provider for Jacksonville.
Old Becomes New
To longtime Jacksonville residents, there is nothing brand new about St.Luke*s Hospital. It is the city's oldest hospital, with nearly 135 years of caring for the community. St. Vincent*s Medical Center is the city's second oldest existing healthcare provider.
What will be new are the additional resources available for the region and the opportunity for residents on Jacksonville*s Southside to experience the same quality healthcare offered by the Daughters of Charity at St. Vincent*s Medical Center * without having to cross the St. Johns River.
