The Tippah County community is fortunate to have a modern health care facility, Tippah County Hospital, which affiliated with the Baptist Memorial System in Memphis. While some community hospitals in the nation are closing their doors, this facility continues to expand its range of services and specialties as well as its physician base.

Currently, the 110-bed hospital is mid-phase in a five-phase capital improvements program, which will continue to enhance the breadth and scope of patient-care services. An expanded Emergency Services Complex focuses on the delivery of state-of-the-art acute care. Offering a comprehensive range of services including CT, Ultrasound, Mammography and Nuclear Medicine, the hospital is poised to handle a diverse array of patient needs. Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, and Surgery are just a few specialties represented, with outreach support available in Cardiology, Ophthalmology, and other areas. With the health-care industry's emphasis on preventive health, plans are in the making for a Wellness and Preventive Health Center at the hospital.

Competitively positioned for the needs of the workplace, Ripley, Mississippi is a community proud of its southern heritage and tradition. Located in Tippah County, Ripley has earned distinction as one of the ten original communities formed from the Chickasaw Session of 1832. Before this time, the Chickasaws occupied and controlled the area despite Mississippi's statehood in 1817. In the late 1700s and early 1800s, the Indians had several large towns along the Natchez Tract and traded considerably with the English and the Americans. In fact, large numbers of artifacts have been found in the county, and the county has rare unspoiled fossil finds found in only one other site in the United States.
